Thank you very much for joining the Zazen and Calligraphy Experience at Daijoji Temple on July 29, 2025. We truly appreciate your participation.

About Takuhatsu (Alms-Round)
Traditionally, monks are not allowed to earn money, so they go out into the town to collect alms—this practice is called Takuhatsu (托鉢) in Japanese.
At Daijoji Temple, however, Takuhatsu is no longer done regularly. It’s practiced occasionally as part of the monks’ training, more as a spiritual exercise than to receive food or money.
The temple is mainly supported by donations from followers, some assistance from Kanazawa City, and income from facilities like the parking lot—not through personal earnings by the monks.
